In the last 10-12 days of each season the Earth Element comes into play. This element is all about nurturing and nourishment. Like mother earth herself, we take time to feel connected to the cycles of nature, to feel supported and held by life.

I know we’ve already shifted into Autumn but you can still take some time to ground and connect.

 Here are the Top 5 Foods I’d recommend to help you feel grounded

  1. Foods from the earth…root vegetables like carrots, sweet potato and turnips.
  1. Foods that are golden in colour (the colour for Earth Element is golden yellow) …pumpkin, corn, millet.
  1. Green tea, button mushrooms, garlic, ginger and lemon help to reduce dampness. Think of what the earth is like if it’s too damp, it’s swampy and stagnant. We can become the same when our earth element is out of balance.
  1. Don’t drink with meals – this dilutes the stomach acids that are used to break down food.
  1. The earth element loves sweet and if it is out of balance it could see you reaching out for that 3pm coffee and snickers bar. Instead give it natural sweet foods like pumpkin, sweet potato and stewed fruits to satisfy its’ sweet craving.
